What a great turnout we had at our hangi on Friday night the last day of term. I must say it's got to be one of the best tasting hangis I've had and I think that water cress that Ian and Kereama found made the difference. Despite the rain and cold the food was cooked perfectly and there was stacks of it. What a wonderful way to end our term and Maori Language Week. Thank you all so much for your generous contributions of food and service given; to the ladies and students who helped prepare the food, Paul for bringing his digger down twice to dig a hole and to Kereama, Duane and young Liam Anderson who helped with the fire and laying the hangi. I want to mention Maria Pender who became fully involved bring down her brazier and gazebo which were invaluable on the day. Maria also made it a wonderful experience for the students by coming in at lunchtime and cooking sausages and cheerios over the brazier. What a great day we had. Thanks everyone for your wonderful community support, we are grateful for that and your attendance on the night, have a wonderful holiday.
Next term our main focus will be the production, 'Hoodwinked' led by Victoria King who has been in and conducted auditions for the main characters. We congratulate Sam Curtis who will play Robin Hood, Savannah Hammond who will play Maid Marion and Kane Pender who will play The Sherriff. Other characters will be cast early next term. Thank you Victoria for being so willing to help us out with this, we appreciate your talents.
